Birmingham Health Innovation Campus, Selly Oak, Birmingham - Construction with Community

Creation of a world-leading Birmingham Health Innovation Campus (BHIC).

Phase 1 of Birmingham Health Innovation Campus (BHIC) features a purpose-built new 133K SF state-of-the-art specialist office and lab building in the heart of a cluster of healthcare excellence.

Developed via a Bruntwood SciTech and Legal and General joint venture, the JV is also in partnership with the University of Birmingham.

Opening in 2023, BIHC will become a world-leading healthcare technologies campus offering high-quality innovation facilities for businesses working in medtech, precision medicine, diagnostics, and digital healthcare.

The BREEAM ‘Excellent’ building will become home to the University of Birmingham’s Precision Health Technologies Accelerator, providing incubator space, wet and dry labs, clean rooms, prototyping, and maker space. This will allow close, direct access to the University's clinical trials ecosystem and research capabilities; and will provide a flawless setting to scale ground-breaking innovations for rapid adoption into the healthcare system.

Other facilities will see a ground floor café, events, and meeting spaces, with central green parkland & pond.

A temporary car park for 258 is to be provided alongside motorcycle & cycle spaces for 60 plus. Pedestrian & cycle links will be formed along with a new spine road connection to the Queen Elizabeth Island roundabout.

Phases (2-5) could see the entire site, which is a designated Life Science Opportunity Zone, providing up to 657K SF of new commercial lab and office space, creating up to 10,000 new jobs. The entire BHIC development is expected to be completed by 2031.
