In brief

Pressworks Birmingham is a mixed-use scheme of 650 (1-2 bed) homes & c.44K of high-quality ground floor commercial space, across six blocks (two plots) of 8-21 storeys.

Bounded by Bradford, Moseley, Barford & Rea Street, the under-utilised site is home to dilapidated post-war industrial units - these will be demolished to deliver 299 one & 351 two-bedroom apartments in 2-4 person accommodation, meeting the needs of present and future generations.

Adhering to the green Rea Valley masterplan SPD, a green linear park link will dissect the site along Cheapside to create a green space on the corner of Barford Street and Cheapside - replacing the current vehicular Barford Street.

A mix of public and private garden spaces will be implemented by opening the courtyards of the new buildings, increasing physical and visual permeability of the site. External balconies are provided fronting these, with further space offered in the form of roof gardens.

A car-free development, 364 cycles will be allocated instead.
