In brief

The Lamp Works will be redeveloped to offer 129 apartments and duplexes in 5 new buildings of 4-5 storeys, with the rejuvenation of historic builds, and the creation of ground floor commercial facing onto Great Hampton Street.

Featuring a mixture of one-, two- & three-bedroom apartments in 2-6 person accommodation, the industrial heritage of The Lamp Works site, sitting as it does on a main thoroughfare into Birmingham City Centre, is reflected in the design of the buildings and materials used.

Residential amenities - including central courtyards, outdoor spaces, shared lounges, a studio and communal diner/kitchen and co-working areas - would be formed alongside a centrally placed steel frame to one of the building’s that would give a subtle nod to the area’s proud history.

30-33 Great Hampton Street - otherwise known as The Blue Nile restaurant, facing onto Great Hampton Street - would also be given a new lease of life and refurbished with new traditional shopfronts, windows & a fully restored roof. The upper floors would then contain 4 spacious (1-2 bed) apartments, with a unit benefiting from a first-floor terrace.

17 vehicular spaces, including 8 EV charging points, and 132 secure cycles, would serve the development.
