The development
Stone Yard has consent to reanimate Digbeth High Street with 955 (STC) rented apartments & between 25-30K SF of vibrant commercial uses - in buildings ranging from six to 30-storeys.
Fantastically located, Stone Yard would be dissected by a tree-lined boulevard that would form a direct link from the heart of the Custard Factory – adjacent – via a new pedestrian crossing that leads out onto Green Street.
501 one & 494 two-bedroom apartments are consented, with 20% of the scheme designated affordable after a £5m boost from West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
Two courtyards, lounges, co-working spaces, dining areas, and a cinema room, are earmarked, with commercial uses set to include retail, restaurant/bars, a café, cinema, and a fitness club – all of which would be prominently located on the High Street and the site’s new boulevard.
Given that the Midland Metro Tram will have a new stop directly outside, provision has been made for 70 car parking spaces - accessed from Alcester Street - with 464 cycle spaces.
