In brief
Birmingham Hippodrome is set to be transformed to offer a modernised main entrance and foyer, with state-of-the-art digital media, as well as a new secondary entrance – with the latter forming Phase 1 of works.
The aim is for Hippodrome to be enjoyed by a broader audience – supported by ground-level food & beverage offerings; dedicated rehearsal space on the first; performance spaces on the second; restaurant, rehearsal and balcony spaces on the third; and the fourth providing admin areas, new rehearsal space & provision for a bar.
Phase 1 will see the creation of a new secondary entrance on Inge Street to enhance accessibility to and from the auditorium.
Phase 2 will see the front of house & Hurst Street elevation works, with Phase 3 undergoing landscaping works to Hurst Street & Hippodrome Square.
